Members of Ukrainian Parliament learn more about US blockade

Kiev, Jun 18 (Prensa Latina) Members of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba in Ukraine were updated on the impact of the intensification of the US blockade against the island during the Covid-19 pandemic, as per diplomatic sources.

The Cuban ambassador in Kiev, Natacha Diaz, received the delegation and its president, Oleg Voronko, and showed them a video of the parliamentary hearing held in Havana on May 28th under the title ‘Cuba, facing two pandemics’.

Diaz informed the parliamentarians about the vote on the Cuban resolution against United States-enforced blockade to take place on June 23rd during the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat offered details of the social and economic damages caused by Washington’s measures.

Diaz explained that the actions of the White House towards Cuba have been on the rise in the last four years and that more than 50 measures were approved only in 2020, accentuating their extraterritorial nature.

The participants also discussed the development of bilateral relations and the interest in promoting trade and investment between the two countries.

The diplomat presented the Portfolio of investment opportunities approved by the Cuban Government in December 2020, and both parties reiterated their willingness to promote inter-parliamentary ties and in other areas of mutual interest.

The Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba was created in November 2019 and its leader, Oleg Voronko, is a member of the faction of the Servant of the People political party.
