Chavez explained that there is no indication in the judicial records that Murillo has been released and there is no information on the existence of a deal with the Prosecutor’s Office in relation to which he would benefit as a protected witness, according to media reports.
The former Bolivian minister was arrested in the United States on May 26 for allegedly paying bribes.
The update offered by Chavez officially refutes the preliminary information provided by US media about Murillo’s alleged release on bail.
The prosecutor had declared previously that whatever the decision by US justice, the Bolivian Government will respect it, and the investigation against Murillo will continue in Bolivia in any case.
