According to information released by the Chilean Embassy in Havana, representatives from both countries will develop a virtual workshop on June 24 and 25 about updating on aging and pandemic management.
‘Cuba has a huge gerontological culture and great experience in this area (?) especially in geriatrics, social security, education, recreation, residential homes for the elderly, territorial strategy, health and psychological assistance,’ Chilean Ambassador to Cuba, Mauricio Hurtado, highlighted.
Maria Ines Picazo, director of International Affairs at the University of Concepcion in Chile, affirmed that amid the pandemic, these issues become new challenges, which imply the need to update knowledge and tools to manage them.
The Research Center in Longevity, Aging and Health in Havana insisted on the importance of ensuring that people have longer, but also healthier lives.
The second cooperation sessions about the issue will be held in November 2021. Specialists from the University of Concepcion will share their knowledge and experience in health matters with Cuban professionals.
