The event, organized by Ediciones La Luz in this eastern Cuban province, dedicated this year’s event to the work of the Latin American writer on his 100th birthday, on December 21, and the 35th anniversary of the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS), Liset Prego, from the Organizing Committee, noted on Thursday.
Precisely, in order to highlight Monterroso’s work, young storytellers presented the audiobook ’10×10 Dinosaur Eggs,’ which collects the same number of short stories by that exponent in Latin American literature and author of the famous mini-story ‘The Dinosaur.’
For the second consecutive year, the Celestino Short Story Award is taking place virtually, due to the complex health situation caused by Covid-19 in this eastern territory; an option that has allowed participants to make audiovisual materials.
Ediciones La Luz, which is attached to the AHS, convened the first edition of the Celestino Short Story Award in 1999 and since then, it has been a space to promote Cuban young storytellers.
