A commission of experts, established during the AU special session held virtually on May 7, will review complaints made in the northern jurisdiction since November 2020 and collect information to determine their veracity.
This group will also work in Banjul, capital of Gambia, and neighboring countries of Ethiopia, when health, social and security conditions allow it, according to a press release issued by the continental organization.
The text also ensures that the specialists will comply with the principles of independence, confidentiality, neutrality and impartiality, and will guarantee protection of those who provide evidence to explain the events reported and identify those who are likely responsible.
