The Foreign Ministry tweeted, ‘In history, Prensa Latina has established the bases at the service of timely information from the most distant regions of the world, with a historic mission at the service of truth.’
The Havana-based news agency was founded on June 16, 1959, as an alternative to the hegemonic control of information exercised by few media organizations, particularly in the United States.
Prensa Latina, known as PL, was founded to counteract the campaigns of lies spread against the Cuban Revolution.
In its more than six decades of struggle, Prensa Latina has developed an information work committed to the just causes in Latin America and globally.
