Interviewed about her Government’s donation of AstraZeneca vaccines against Covid-19 to six countries, the diplomat stressed that the decision was made after an exhaustive analysis of the neediest.

Mercado said in statements to Bolivia TV that this South American nation was one of the first three countries to receive 150,000 doses of the vaccine, which arrived here on Sunday on a Mexican Air Force plane.

Both States, she explained, went hand in hand to guarantee access to the vaccines against Covid-19, which is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, and for the release of patents, so that others can produce them and make progress in immunization, she underlined.

Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on Saturday that vaccines would be sent to Belize, Bolivia and Paraguay through the mechanism of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), as well as to Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.
