Convened by the publishing house, which belongs to the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), the contest, on this occasion, is being held on several online platforms, due to the epidemiological situation of the Covid-19 virus in the country.
Until June 18, organizers for the event propose an approach to the work of Augusto Monterroso, an important figure of Latin American narrative, to whom this 22nd edition of the contest is dedicated on his 100th birthday, along with the 35th anniversary of the AHS.
Liset Prego, Ediciones La Luz communication specialist, explained to Prensa Latina that one of the tributes to the writer, born in Honduras and nationalized Guatemalan, will be the presentation of the audio book ’10×10 Dinosaur Eggs’, where 10 young Cuban narrators give voice to the same number of Monterroso’s mini-stories.
Every year, the Celestino Prize summons prestigious Cuban writers to serve as jury members. In this edition, Dazra Novak, director of the Onelio Jorge Cardoso Literary Training Center, and the Casa de las Americas Rafael de Aguila and Emerio Medina prizes will be present.
