Foreign Minister tweeted assuring that this once again recognizes Cuba’s results in terms of protection of labor rights.
The island was elected on Monday to the executive body of the ILO, with 214 votes, the second best result among all the candidates.
The Board of Directors, made up of 56 regular members and 66 deputy members, meets three times a year, makes decisions on the organization’s policy, and also determines the agenda of the International Labor Conference (ILC), adopts the program and budget, and elects the director general.
The vote took place during the 109 ILC, which will meet until June 19th with delegates from the 187 ILO member states to discuss sector issues and people-centered recovery in the post-Covid-19 stage.
