According to the radio station, the President made the announcement on Sunday in the city of Goma, capital of the North Kivu province, after having assessed the material and human consequences of the Nyiragongo volcano eruption on May 22nd.
Around 30 people lost their lives and more than three thousand houses, health centers and schools suffered damage, while more than 420 thousand inhabitants were evacuated due to the risk associated with the activity of the crater and the earthquakes.
Representatives of the executive will also review the humanitarian problem in the town of Kibati, 20 kilometers from Goma, where a camp was set up to house thousands of inhabitants who lost their homes.
According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), around 350,000 people need urgent help in Goma due to the aftermath of the volcanic eruption.
