The US government maintains in its ‘Cuba Prohibited Accommodations List’ 422 hotels and private rental houses, although it claims to support Cuban entrepreneurs, the Minister of Foreign Relations denounced in a tweet.
However, and contrary to said discourse, the US government maintains the suspension of cruises, flights and people-to-people contact, the official added.
The ban on the arrival of cruise ships to Cuban ports came into force on June 5th, 2019 during the intensification of hostility against Cuba by the Donald Trump administration.
A day earlier, the White House announced an additional package of measures reversing the incipient thawing process between Washington and Havana during the final stage of the Barack Obama government (2009-2017).
The new provisions also prohibited the travel of passenger ships, recreational vessels and private aircraft from the United States to Cuba, which impacted entrepreneurs linked to tourism.
