He told the program En Vivo on Canal Cuatro (Channel Four) of Nicaraguan television that these unilateral measures violate international law and the United Nations Charter.
Llorente described the sanctions on four Nicaraguan officials, including the president of the Central Bank, by the Treasury Department last week as interfering, abusive and extraterritorial.
He pointed out that amid the pandemic, three ALBA member countries, Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela, are among those that have managed this health crisis in the Latin American and Caribbean region the best without the collapse of their health systems.
He also recalled that ALBA’s adversaries saw the pandemic as a weapon to destroy the integration mechanism.
