China tests booster shot of Covid-19 vaccine with additional dose

Beijing, Jun 11 (Prensa Latina) China began testing in already immunized people an additional dose of Covid-19 vaccines to reinforce protection against stronger mutations of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, the press informed on Friday.

According to Global Times, the process started in east China’s Jiangsu province and scientists use CanSinoBIO shots, developed with the same technique as Pfizer.

This process takes place just when the Government and some airlines assess the idea of including vaccination as a requirement for domestic travel.

Since July 2020, China vaccinated more than 845 million national and foreign citizens with its own Covid-19 vaccines, while shipments to a hundred countries either for exports or aid maintained.

In general, the country accumulates 4,970 deaths and 115,507 contagions with Covid-19 in its mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan since the disease broke out in December 2019.

China is currently facing a strong outbreak of the disease in southern Guangdong province, with a high number of autochthonous contagions and a high incidence in children and the elderly.
