He expressed these views at a press conference before the G7 Summit slated for June 11-13 in the United Kingdom.

The head of the European Commission (EC) reafirmed this bloc’s intention to support the production of vaccines in the world and announced it will invest a billion euros in the development of production in Africa.

However, several people criticized the advantages of distributing those vaccines in the most developed nations to the detriment of poor countries.

The Covax Mechanism, co-directed by the World Health Organization, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and the Coalition for Epidemics Preparedness Innovations, is planning cooperation with vaccine producers in order to ensure equitable access to immunization.
