Mexico maintains low possibility of Covid-19 infections

Mexico, Jun 8 (Prensa Latina) Mexico has 19 states on the green with the lowest possibility of contagion with Covid-19 and only four in orange, with the highest risk, Undersecretary of Health Prevention Hugo Lopez-Gatell announced.

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador updated the report on the pandemic during the morning conference in the National Palace and pointed out that 134,828 vaccines against the coronavirus had already been applied up until Tuesday, placing the national strategy at 34,600,289 doses used.

He recalled that the activity in the immunization modules was suspended on Sunday, election day. Meanwhile, on the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, the report of the day indicates a high increase in the number of death confirmations, with 12,858, for a total of 241,662, about which no explanation was given at the conference, although apparently it is an unreported overall figure.

Lopez-Gatell stressed that the number of cases has been declining for 20 weeks already. The trend of the epidemic curve remained on a ‘plateau’ in week 21 (from June 23th to 29th), with a minimum increase of 0.1 percent.

It is not a noticeable change in the transmission of the coronavirus, probably due to the increase in cases in Quintana Roo and Colima, he indicated.

There are 18,514 active cases, representing 0.7 percent of the total number of people estimated to have had the disease since the beginning of the pandemic. So far, 1,914,913 people have recovered.

Regarding vaccination, 14,172,467 people have already received the complete series.
