In his speech at the main session of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, the sheikh highlighted the solid historic relations with Russia, which have seen concrete development in the last two decades in several political and economic spheres, especially in trade and investments.
He highlighted cooperation in the energy sector and, in this regard, he referred to the joint foundation of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, based in Doha.
The emir said via a video conference that the State of Qatar is working to increase investment in green and sustainable energy and other areas that will contribute to preserving the environment and fighting climate change.
Al Thani added that the main driving force of Qatar’s economy in this phase is investing in development projects and infrastructure, especially in education, health care, transportation, research, small and medium enterprises.
He also explained that the emirate is seeking to develop economic diversification, increase investments in the private sector in all spheres through incentives and attract direct foreign investment.
The emir recalled the amendments to laws with this aim and called on Russia’s private sector and the world to explore Qatar’s promising business environment in many projects and several spheres.
In addition to expressing gratitude for the election of Qatar as the guest country in this important business forum, Al Thani praised Russia’s role in the production and distribution of vaccines.
