Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations Majid Takht-Ravanchi described the implementation of such coercive measures as a crime against humanity.
Takht-Ravanchi explained this issue during a virtual meeting at a plenary session attended by nine other countries that assessed the effects of unilateral actions on the population.
Those actions have prevented Iran from conducting operations with banks and financial institutions, including the purchase of medicines and supplies to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Such sanctions hurt the most vulnerable people, especially patients with cancer, epidermolysis bullosa and those requiring chemotherapy, the diplomat stressed.
