Health intervention against Covid-19 in Cuba goes well

Havana, Jun 1 ( Prensa Latina) The head of the National Department of Primary Health Care in Cuba, Maria Elena Soto, said on Tuesday that the health intervention against Covid-19 is going at a good pace.

Speaking on Cuban television, Soto explained that immunization of risk groups and territories is making progress as scheduled.

It is a complex process, and the setbacks that arise are solved by those involved in this task, as they show their efforts, unity and responsibility, she added.

The health system, with family doctors and nurses, stomatologists and medical students, among other actors, work in this effort.

She reminded that the age for vaccination is from 19 to 80, and pregnant women, those who suffered from Covid-19, puerperal women, people allergic to thimerosal, and those with acute diseases and chronic conditions that are not compensated are excluded from immunization.

The official, who always calls to maintain hygienic-sanitary measures to contain the pandemic, noted that the immunization of other risk groups will begin next week.

Previously, the National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, informed about the health intervention in groups and territories at risk with the vaccine candidates Soberana 02 and Abdala.

So far, 1,071,041 people have received the first dose, 628,409 have already been immunized with the second dose and 144,040 have received all three doses.
