Officials from Greece, Hungary and Serbia arrived in Damascus and work is underway for the resumption of activity very soon, except the consular sections that require many personnel, according to the sources.

Al Watan added that Italy recently approved the accreditation of a Syrian diplomat as a FAO representative in Rome and it is possible that he will arrive soon to comply with his duties.

On the other hand, the Syrian Bar Association signed a contract with the Cyprus Embassy in Syria to rent a building in the Abu Rummana neighborhood as the headquarters of the legation in Damascus.

Most of the European Embassies closed in Syria prior to the onset of the war in 2011, except those of the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Mekdad recently stated that Arab and Western Embassies will soon resume their activities in Syria.
