Karzai told Ariana news agency on Monday that the process to end the war in Afghanistan failed, among other reasons because it was a foreign initiative.
The former president stressed that he had encouraged the Taliban and the government to start peace talks in Bamiyan province, where the climate is good, although other places in Afghanistan could also host them.
Karzai said that the Afghan people have been at each other’s throats and that talks to reach peace in the country should be concluded as soon as possible.
He added that if the peace process changes and ceases to be a project, negotiations could take place much faster and conclusions could be reached sooner.
He also said that once harmony is achieved, Afghanistan will be able to address problems with neighbors and the international community with much more determination and independence.
