Cuban institution mourns death of Bolivian singer-songwriter

Havana, May 31 (Prensa Latina) Casa de las Americas (House of the Americas) on Monday mourned the death of teacher, dancer and singer songwriter Luisa Molina, whose work ranks among the best voices of Bolivian folklore.

On a tweet, the renowed Cuban institution expressed its condolences for the death of this Bolivian artist, who died of Covid-19 at 66.

Molina had a remarkable career defending the typical instrumentation of the region and released more than a dozen albums as a solo artist and two albums with Grupo Femenino Bolivia.

Among her most relevant albums are Te voy a olvidar (I Will Forget You), Hoy como ayer (Today Like Yesterday), Recuerdos (Memories) and Vas a llorar (You Will Cry), besides exploring other Latin American folklore traditions, such as her album Mi voz para México (My Voice for Mexico).

Several political and cultural Bolivian personalities paid their tribute and respect to the singer, who was admired by the people thanks to her undeniable contribution to the music scene in her country.

On social media, national artists are highlighting the musical legacy of the folklorist, who was planning to open a singing, dance and theater academy with her children and create festivals to discover new talents in Bolivia.
