Fana Broadcasting Corporate and other publications are reporting the recent meeting between the Cuban foreign minister and Ethiopian Ambassador to Havana Shibru Mamo, with whom he discussed bilateral and international issues.
The foreign minister reaffirmed Cuba’s support for the ongoing political and economic reforms here, and reiterated that his country is confident in Ethiopia’s ability to address its domestic situation without interference from foreign forces, local media noted.
They also stress the Cuban Government’s support for the appointment of Arkebe Okubay, main advisor to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, for the position of executive director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
According to the articles, Mamo explained the unfolding of the negotiation with Egypt and Sudan on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, and their aim to resolve that dispute as soon as possible through peaceful mechanisms, under the auspices of the African Union. During the meeting, he also noted Ethiopia’s determination to settle the border conflict with Sudan through dialogue, and described the restoration of constitutional order in the regional state of Tigray and the preparation of general elections.
