Bolivia´s National Police Commander Jhonny Aguilera cleared up this measure is intended to prevent people under investigation from fleeing the country.
Aguilera explained the investigation is based on the work conducted by the Financial Investigations Unit on irregular operations by the de facto government, to which is added evidence collected in recent operations.
Bolivia´s authorities searched several properties of former Minister of Government Arturo Murillo, where they found plenty of documents closely related to the purchase of tear gas surcharge and legitimation of illicit profits.
There are other high-ranking de facto government officials deeply involved in the investigation such as former Defense Minister Fernando López, and Áñez herself who authorized the purchase of tear gas by supreme decrees.
