The senator called on the United States and Joe Biden to show a new path by putting an end to the blockade aimed at isolating the Cuban people, the senator stressed in a video message posted on YouTube.
Varaillas, who is also a member of the Senate of the France-Caribbean Friendship Group, described the siege implemented by Washington for more than 60 years as illegal and inhumane and called for mobilization and solidarity to support the island and against it.
She also highlighted Cuba’s solidarity in times of pandemic, by sending medical brigades to dozens of countries hit by Covid-19.
The French senator ratified her position less than a month before a new vote at United Nations General Assembly on June 23, on a draft resolution that demands the lifting of the blockade, a text similar to the ones overwhelmingly approved by that forum 28 times since 1992.
