In statements to Radio Havana Cuba, Luis Daniel del Risco, treasurer of the Cuban Baseball Federation, noted that the team, coached by Armando Ferrer, is leaving in the afternoon and will hold two training games, one each against the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.
Del Risco acknowledged the concern expressed by friends of Cuba and baseball fans after the team exceptionally received the visas at the US Embassy in Havana.
The official insisted on the team’s commitment to compete with dignity, love for the shirt and the devotion to fair game that characterizes Cuba’s sports movement.
