During his Monday´s opening speech at the World Health Assembly, Ghebreyesus said ¨we globally remain in a delicate situation since the pandemic will not be wiped out until transmission is well-controlled in all countries.
In 2021, more cases have been reported than in 2020 and following current trends, the coronavirus death toll will exceed those of last year in coming three weeks, he warned.
‘Since Health Assembly opened Monday morning, nearly a thousand people have died of Covid-19, and in the time it takes me to make these comments, other 400 will die,’ he regretted.
