Argentina’s President calls for unity on homeland date

Buenos Aires, May 25 (Prensa Latina) President Alberto Fernandez on Tuesday called on the Argentinians to continue rebuilding the country in unity, as marking the 211st anniversary of the May Revolution, which opened the way to the definitive independence.

‘For the first time, the sun came out for our homeland that May 25. These are difficult times, but our history bears witness to our strength. And it marks the way for us, in unity, to continue rebuilding the country we deserve,’ the president posted on Twitter.

Fernandez accompanied his text with a video in which he covers many of the important moments this southern nation has lived across history.

About the issue, the president cited the return to democracy after the 1976 dictatorship, the victory in the 1986 FIFA World Cup, former President Nestor Kirchner’s inauguration on May 25, 2003, or when the historic law of same-sex marriage was legalized.
