Evo Morales highlights Bolivia’s cultural diversity

La Paz, (Prensa Latina) Former President Evo Morales on Friday highlighted Bolivia's cultural and ethnic diversity, acknowledged in the Political Constitution of the State after decades of indigenous peoples' struggles to claim their rights.

On the occasion of the World Day for Cultural Diversity, Morales highlighted on his Twitter account that the Plurinational State of Bolivia acknowledged 36 native nationalities, something that experts call a milestone in terms of restitution of rights.

The acknowledgment of these peoples, the former president stressed, laid the foundations of the plurinational model championed by the country as ‘a model of coexistence of nations in the same territory for Latin America and the world’.

In 2003, the United Nations General Assembly decided to celebrate the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development every May 21, with the aim of supporting respect for diversity and dialogue, inclusion and cooperation among different cultures.
