As a Palestinian citizen, not only as a representative of the Government, I recognize historical allies in whom we trust, because they do not pursue any other interest than justice, Cuba is one of them, Anastas said in statements to Prensa Latina.

The ambassador stated that when speaking of Cuba and its solidarity, he cannot fail to mention Fidel Castro (1926-2016), to whom he described as a defender and a spokesman of the Palestinian case.

Cuba has always supported our cause without seeking anything in return, aware that this support can create complications with powers such as the United States, the diplomat stressed in allusion to the pressure exerted by Washington to protect Israel, its strategic ally in the Middle East.

Cuba condemned the recent Israeli aggression to the Gaza Strip, where due to the bombings, more than 230 civilians, including dozens of children, have died, and demanded its end, a claim made in multilateral forums such as the UN General Assembly.
