Footages showed hundreds of Syrian citizens lining to vote in Lebanon, Australia, India, China, Russia, Spain, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, among other countries.
Assistant Foreign Minister Ayman Sousan denounced that some countries, such as Turkey and Germany, deprived Syrian residents in their territory of that constitutional right, and that, he said, violates International Law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
A communique from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on compatriots abroad to participate in the elections and thus reaffirm their free will, their national belonging and their contribution to the construction of a country in which only the Syrians decide their future.
The Syrians abroad are scheduled to conclude voting today at 19:00 hours, local time, while Syrians inside the country are set to vote on May 26.
These are the second multi-party elections after those held in 2014, in which current President Bashar al-Assad won more than 88 percent of the votes.
