This figure includes those people involved in the pioneering clinical trials with both immunizers, vaccination studies and in current health intervention that takes place in territories and risk groups, as announced by the temporary work team for the prevention and control of the pandemic in Cuba.
According to the latest figure by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), as many as 540,000 people nationwide were vaccinated with the first dose.
Some 239,626 people -aged 19 years and older- received an Abdala jab, a figure accounting for 53.7% of the 396,382 subjects planned to be vaccinated in different Havana´s municipalities such as Regla, Guanabacoa, Habana del Este and San Miguel del Padrón.
In addition, 300,376 health staffers and vulnerable groups have already received the first or more doses of Soberana 02 candidate, so this accounts for 63.4% of the 474,676 individuals expected to be vaccinated.
Havana´s municipalities such as Plaza de la Revolución, Playa, Centro Habana, Habana Vieja, Diez de Octubre, La Lisa and Marianao, which are part of the phase-III clinical trial of Soberana 02 candidate, must be included in the vaccination program for the second-fortnight June.
According to MINSAP, these actions should contribute to reducing coronavirus sick and death toll as well as controlling transmission, which will make it possible to return to common activities of society.
