Zarif also met with the Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin and the Secretary for Relations with the States Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.
In a message on social networks, Zarif posted that the official meetings were about interfaith talk, unilateral sanctions by the United States, common ground between Iran and the Vatican, and also bilateral cooperation.
Zarif´s visit to the Holy See is his third leg of a journey that previously took him to travel to Spain and Italy.
Zarif was planning to travel to Austria, but he called off the visit as he learned that in government exercises Israeli flags would flutter, despite Zionists are committing a massacre against Palestinian people.
‘It is shocking to see in Austrian government offices Israel´s flag, the country that brutally killed dozens of civilians including children and women,’ Zarif posted.
¨We support Palestine,¨ he reiterated.
