The two firms agreed on Monday to a merger, aimed at becoming a new segment of home delivery, payments and e-commerce in the region.
Gojek operates a Super app in Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand. Through this app, it offers a variety of services, from health insurance, to car rental with driver or food deliveries to homes.
Meanwhile, Tokopedia, which specializes in e-commerce and owns an online retail store similar to the US company Amazon, also offers logistic services and store solutions.
The joint venture will be known as GoTo Group and is the largest merger of companies in Indonesia so far. In 2020, the two firms recorded a volume of transactions of 22 billion dollars.
The joint group posted 1.8 billion transactions on its apps in 2020, made by its 100 million monthly active users.
