In his regular weekly press briefing, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh commented on Tehran’s righteousness at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
‘The Islamic Republic never deviated from its obligations,’ Khatibzadeh said, referring to the talks held in Vienna, Austria, dedicated to saving the JCPOA, put in crisis after the United States withdrew from the pact in May 2018 and its decision to reimpose coercive measures lifted by virtue of the multilateral pact.
Negotiations continue, he said, and no agreement has been reached so far and will not be reached unless Tehran’s demands are restored.
Iranian negotiators are demanding a total elimination of the US maximum pressure policy that imposed Washington under the order by then President Donald Trump.
As of that US decision, Iran cut its nuclear commitments, although it never exceeded the terms of the JCPOA, agreed with the 5+1 Group (the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia and China plus Germany).
