Up to now, none of the members of the Cuban delegation to the Pre-Olympic Games of the Americas has been granted a visa, the Federation said in a message published on Twitter.
According to the organization, the procedures are still underway and US authorities are responsible for facilitating the presence of all countries.
Cuba’s senior team is one of the eight registered to participate in the competition, which will give a direct ticket to the Olympic Games to the champion and will also reward those placed in second and third places with quotas to the world qualifying tournament, scheduled from June 16 to 20 in Taipei, China.
The Cuban shortlisted team, reduced to 32 members, is carrying out the last part of its training at the Victoria de Giron stadium in the city of Matanzas, 104 kilometers east of Havana. Cuba will play in group A. alongside Venezuela, Colombia and Canada, while group B includes the United States, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Nicaragua.
