Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health reported at his daily briefing on television that 26,324 people are in hospitals, including active, suspected and monitored cases.
The expert said that 6,738 of the 6,864 cases have a stable clinical evolution, while 126 people are in intensive care units, 88 in serious state and 38 are critical.
Regarding pediatric cases, the chief epidemiologist said that 187 children infected with the virus were detected, and the total number of children in hospitals rose to 986.
So far, 94.3 percent of the children have recovered, Dr. Duran highlighted.
The expert reported the death of 11 patients in the past few hours, so the death toll in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic rose to 796, though the lethality rate is 0.64 percent.
Since March 2020, 123,221 citizens have been infected with Covid-19 in Cuba.
The government authorized a massive vaccine intervention with candidates Sovereign 02 and Abdala that began on May 12 in Havana and another four provinces.
