Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Carlos Alberto Franco announced so in a videoconference with his Chilean counterpart, Andres Allamand, and the Chile’s Minister of Transport and Telecommunications Gloria Hutt.

In that regard, FM Allamand assured that the presence of Brazil gives ‘a definitive boost’ to the project because of the volume of traffic contributed by that country, which will make its economic viability a reality.

The minister added that the initiative ‘is extraordinarily significant for regional integration’ since along with Argentina, there are three countries incorporated into the project, and he said he hoped that Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia would join.

He explained that the submarine cable generates proximity between South America and the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean, an area of strong economic progress, sustained growth and advanced technology.
