The state company said that the judge admitted to processing an appeal filed by fuel distribution companies considering that the new legislation gives PEMEX an unfair advantage, which it rejects.

The judge’s ruling not only benefits the distributing companies that filed the suspension claim, but also 54 other appeals filed so far against the new legislation, said Beatriz Marcelino, director of Ciita Group, a company specialized in the energy sector.

The lawsuit was requested by companies like Grupo Base Energeticos, Pharaoh International Products, Antluc, Distribuidora de Combustibles Mil, and by Dalia Pilar Lamarque Picos against the legislation enacted on May 4.

According to the Government, the aim is to prevent control of the fuel market from returning to the Mexican State, now dominated by the private sector.

Gomez Fierro, who with his decision stands above the two houses in Congress that approved the law, required Energy Secretary Rocio Nahle to publish the notice that the Hydrocarbons Law is temporarily without effect in three days in the Official Gazette.
