Femicide cases hit Argentina

Buenos Aires, May 11 (Prensa Latina) The killing of a 14-year-old teenager is once again being mourned in Argentina, where femicides are one of the country´s biggest scourges.

As every day, where femicide-related killing headlines are quite common, after a minor got shot to death by a 35-year-old man who suicide later.

According to various media reports, the incidents occurred 35 km off the town of Brea Pozo, in the department of San Martín, province of Santiago del Estero.

Unfortunately, femicides continue claiming the life of an Argentine woman every 32 hours, becoming one of the country´s most serious issues.

According to recent data from Mumalá Group, more than 115 cases, 74 femicides and transgender murders, 22 gender-related violence and 109 assassination attempts were reported in this year.

Over 70 children and teens lost their mother due to this scourge and the saddest thing about these cases is that 63% were committed by couples or ex-partners.

Despite various measures implemented by the President Alberto Fernández administration, who for the first time established the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity, femicides continue to hit Argentina too hard.
