Dominican singer releases preview of album with Cuban musicians

Havana, May 11 (Prensa Latina) Dominican salsa singer Jose Alberto Andujar, artistically alias El Canario, released on Tuesday on digital platforms the first single of an album made with the collaboration of Cuban musicians and producers.

‘Rodando por el mundo,’ the track’s title, is the popular name in Latin America of ‘¿Por qué ahora?’ a bolero by Puerto Rican musician Bobby Capo recorded in 1956 and popularized by Billos Caracas Boys from Venezuela; Marco Antonio Muñiz from Mexico, and the Yakare Bayamo orchestra, from Cuba.

The homonymous album has nine songs and two bonus tracks – a track or piece of music included in specific editions or reissues of an album – and is one of the actions promoted by Cuba and Mexico to declare bolero as Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

The recording features the participation of the Santiago groups ‘Azabache’ and ‘Los Guanches,’ the legendary troubadour from that province Alejandro Almenares, the Magic Sax Quartet and musicians from the Orquesta Sinfonica de Oriente.

The sound material was recorded in studios in Santiago de Cuba, Havana, Miami, New York, Santo Domingo, San Juan, Bogota, Mexico City and Madrid, and features Puerto Rican artists Gilberto Santa Rosa, Victor Manuelle and Charlie Aponte and Colombian artist Jorge Celedon, among others.
