President Emmanuel Macron had announced last week the expansion of the process, following the opening of a vaccination center in Paris.
The campaign faces challenges such as the fear that many people have to be vaccinated with the Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical AstraZeneca vaccine, due to some side effects reported, despite that these are isolated cases.
Taking into account that tens of thousands of doses of this vaccine must be administered, Prime Minister Jean Castex insisted over the weekend that the shot, reserved for those over 55 years of age, is safe.
According to the Ministry of Health, 17.8 million people, 26 percent of the French population, have received until Sunday at least the first dose of one of the Covid-19 vaccines, while 7.7 million, 11.6 percent, have been given the two doses.
