Diaz explained that the police shot members of the alternative media outlet LocoSAPIENs, in Sibate (Cundinamarca), despite the fact that they had press credentials to cover the demonstrations.
‘Esmad (riot police officers) launched teargas from one and a half kilometers from the demonstrations. The neighborhood community prepared to defend itself (…) (the police officers) started to fire head-on. We were broadcasting live, and one can easily see how they arrived,’ a witness told the WRadio reporter.
Although the colleagues shouted ‘we are the press!,’ the police officers continued the attack, which was recorded, she added.
Demonstrations have continued in Colombia since April 28, and police repression is growing despite the so many appeals to the international community, and by the people itself to end repression.
