On Monday, 23 Covid-19 patients on ventilatory support died at Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences in Karnataka due to a disruption in the fluid’s supply, the Daily News and Analysis newspaper reported.
At least 144 patients were being treated at the hospital when the tragedy occurred.
However, additional secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Piyush Goyal said that oxygen production went up by about 9,000 metric tons, although gas is also imported.
Amid India’s unprecedented medical crisis, several countries offered aid in the form of ventilators, oxygen concentrators, personal protective equipment and raw materials to produce vaccines.
