Diaz-Canel regrets Mexico’s subway accident

Havana, May 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Tuesday regretted the accident that occurred in the subway of Mexico City, where 24 people were killed and over 70 were injured.

On his Twitter account, the president extended his condolences to his Mexican counterpart, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, for the accident that occurred on Monday.

‘We express our deepest condolences to the Mexican people and government and to the families and friends of the victims,’ he added in another tweet.

According to press reports, two cars of Line 12 of the subway collapsed last night on one of the main avenues in Mexico City.

The accident occurred at 22:30 hours, local time, between the Olivos and Tezonco stations of that line, as a joint of the structure of a level crossing collapsed, because it could not support the weight of the convoy, so it fell on a highway and damaged several vehicles that were passing by.
