Producer Jose Manuel Garcia, from BisMusic, described as monumental the work of Miguel Matamoros, director of the trio of the same name, and the group from Santiago as the one that could best assume that tribute, after deep research on that legacy.
Garcia highlighted the respect of the members of Ecos del Tivoli for the main characteristics of Matamoros’ work and the high quality of those interpretations and arrangements, which favor its contemporary style despite the long time that has passed.
Cuban singer Mayito Rivera and Puerto Ricans Gilberto Santa Rosa, Andy Montañez and Danny Rivera, who declared themselves admirers and followers of the guitarist and composer’s sonority, were proud and honored to participate in this phonogram.
Other Puerto Ricans involved in this production are Choco Orta, cuatro player Edwin Colon and Gran Combo bassist Eddy Rivera, along with Cubans Maria Victoria Rodriguez, Haydee Milanes, Zulema Iglesias, Sixto Llorente, Ruben Leliebre, Lazaro Bandera and Joaquin Solorzano.
The 30 songs included on the album are added to the homage the group paid to the creator of ‘El que siembra su maiz’ and ‘Juramento’ in 1999, named ‘A Matamoros,’ and the second, ‘De Matamoros a Guillen,’ on the centenary of the Cuban National Poet.
