Agencies such as the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) are already sending humanitarian shipments and critical supplies to the South Asian country, including 3,000 oxygen concentrators, diagnostic tests, medical kits and other equipment, Haq said.
UNICEF Representative in India Yasmin Haque said that much more is really needed as the outbreak continues to spread rapidly across the country.
With this fund, oxygen plants for hospitals will be purchased and installed in the northeast of the territory and in Maharashtra, and it is expected to provide thermal scanners at all India´s ports.
UNICEF is also helping New Delhi´s government to guarantee that critical services for most vulnerable children continue to functioning and enable some 12 million minors to continue their classes from home.
