This new Covax batch will allow us to move on the second phase of the national immunization campaign, said Giammattei, who called for guaranteeing an orderly registration of people to be vaccinated.
Giammattei recalled that the people to be immunized should not go to a vaccination center without a previously scheduled appointment, in order to avoid overcrowds and to make an orderly process easier.
After filling out the form – Giammattei stated – they will receive a sms text informing date and place.
The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) will also enable some 300 in-person registration centers, many of them in malls, supermarkets, departmental governments and permanent healthcare centers, in order to vaccinate more than 469,000 elderly registered.
Giammattei announced that Guatemala is also waiting for 100,000 Sputnik V vaccine doses, purchased from Russia out of a total of 16 million doses to immunize as many as eight million Guatemalans.
