Several messages of condolences for the death of this professional, considered by many of his colleagues a professor, friend and relative, are flooding Twitter, highlighting his career as the first president of the Cuban Immunology Society and a member of the Public Health Ministry’s Vaccine Advising Committee.
On Wednesday, the Group of Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries informed on its Twitter account about the death of Dr. Sierra, who was the advisor of that entrepreneurial conglomerate.
The Finlay Vaccines Institute (IFV) tweeted that Dr. Sierra was the founder of the center and the precursor of Cuba’s vacunology.
He was the main developer of Cuba’s BC antimeningococcic vaccine and the world’s first patent against the B meningococcus, as well as the brains behind several other vaccines in different phases of clinical use and trials.
