According to a report by the public institution, in charge of monitoring the labor market, that figure represents a 0.1-percent increase compared to the previous quarter, which implies an additional 4,200 French people looking for jobs.
Category A, reserved for those who are unemployed and actively demanding it, included 3,800,700 citizens, a 0.4-percent drop compared to the figure registered in the October-December 2000 quarter.
However, when we analyze its development in the last year, the number of unemployed people grew 6.3 percent, in a context marked by the Covid-19 pandemic and its economic consequences.
When summing up category A with category B and C, which include participants in reduced work activities, the number of French people looking for work rose 4.7 percent from the first quarter of 2020 to the same stage in 2021.
