Feng Zijian, Deputy Director-General of China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told Global Times newspaper that the reports of contagions from India will be difficult, because China has strict provisions in force to prevent imported cases from anywhere in the world.
However, the expert considered pertinent to remain alert and closely follow the evolution of the crisis in India, as nearby territories such as Nepal saw a rise in Covid-19 cases in recent days.
He also called on people to continue to take hygiene measures and follow the mechanisms to fight Covid-19.
China expressed willingness to support India with medical supplies, mainly oxygen, whose shortage in hospitals has increased the death toll.
